While not every business in the world is the same, most offices have the same needs in order to be effective. With that in mind, here are some of the most basic office needs.
NEEDS #1: Desk Supplies
Yes, you might think that technology is the most important but, in fact, it is not. Or, rather, it does not have to be. What you need in your office is the simple things that help to get the job done:
- Paper clips
- Recycle bin
This list may be longer or shorter depending on your office, of course, but don’t overlook these things just because you might not use them all the time. When you come to need even one thing on this list, you will be glad you stocked up ahead of time.
NEEDS #2: Technology
Ok, it is not necessarily second to basic office supplies, but when your technology fails, those supplies are going to come in really handy. When it comes to technology, a basic laptop computer is all you really need. They are portable, web-ready, and should have more than enough storage for your basic office computing needs.
NEEDS #3: Office Machines
In addition to a computer, though, you may also need to other office machines. This could include a copier or printer or scanner. Or, in many cases, you can simply get an all-in-one machine that scans and prints (which is basically a copy machine anyway). Included with office machines (or maybe we should include it with technology) is mobile phones, of course.
NEEDS #4: Furniture
From desks and chairs to conference tables and armchairs, your office needs furniture. This is not just so you can have workstations, too. You want to have comfortable seating options for work and for relaxation. In addition to workstations, though, make sure you have also planned for some storage options.
NEEDS #5: Planning and Organization
While you could use some technology to help you with this, it is often a good idea to invest in calendars and even white boards where you can post important information for everyone to see. You can get a simple wall calendar at just about any store or, of course, on the internet. Make sure you remember dry erase markers and other associated Office supplies at 123ink.ca too.
