Introduction to Cisco Certification-CCIE
Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert, commonly known as CCIE is the highest level of technical networking certification offered by Cisco.
The test serves to check the an individuals knowledge of networking, his experience and network engineering skills gained through the required networking exposure and his understanding of the Cisco services and products.
Typically Cisco recommends that the candidates acquire a minimum of two years work/job experience before taking the CCIE lab. Passing of the CCIE-R/S Qualification exam (exam 350-001) before taking the actual lab is also necessary.
Internetworking is defined as the communication between two or more networks. Many protocols and features are embedded in the field of internetworking in order to allow efficient handling without much human involvement.
Designing an internetwork is not an easy task as the design should ensure reliability. Circumspectly designing internetworks keeping even the minute details in mind can in turn help reduce the problems that arise due to gradual network growth and enhancement.
In order to become a CCIE, it is highly recommended that the potential candidate attends all the recommended courses at an authorized Cisco training center.
As the qualification exam costs around $200 per exam, we recommend that proper training and preparation is not to be taken lightly as the exam is no easy task itself. The next step involves passing a two-day lab at Cisco which costs $1000 per lab.
What skills are required to become a CCIE?
The CCIE Routing and Switching exam focuses on the candidates advanced and upgraded technical skills that are a necessary prerequisite for optimum network performance and maintenance.
The potential candidate must be able to ensure network reliability and should be fully apt to support diverse networks, including the advanced technical skills that are an essential requirement in order to maintain optimum network performance and reliability, Moreover the candidate should boast highly developed skills in supporting diverse networks which may include distinctly dissimilar networking elements operating on fundamentally distinct technologies.
If you want to ensure a successful career in networking then CCIE is one certification that will guarantee you a job and an outstanding salary.
As promising as it may sound, attaining the required level of capability in order to become a CCIE is no easy task. A CCIE will not only possess the combined skill set necessary for CCNA and CCNP but will also be able to diagnose and resolve network faults efficiently. He should also master the packet/frame analysis and Cisco debugging tools.
The candidate must have general LAN/WAN knowledge, including data encapsulation and layering. Flow control and windowing and their relation to delay is also necessary. Furthermore advanced knowledge of switching algorithms, distance vector, error detection and fault isolation are also required.
