Major ISC2 Certifications

CISSP

Basically it was founded in 1989. This not-for-profit organization deals with the CISSP certification. This highly sophisticated certification is designed for IT security experts with a minimum of four years of certified experience in the field of information security. A bachelor’s degree can replace with one of these mandatory years. In addition, a Master’s Degree in Information Security from a National Center of Excellence can take the place of one year towards the four-year requirement. This certification prerequisite in actual fact forms the requirement for this vendor-neutral certification, though ISC2 other, lower-level qualifications, the SSCP, is usually recommended.

During the phase of June 2003, ISC2 launched an Associate program that lets applicants to take the test before they meet the certification and professional requirement. More importantly, after passing the special test and signing ISC2 Code of Ethics, the Associates have to bring together the mandatory work knowledge and efficiently complete a specialized approval test and course before he or she becomes legitimately certified as CISSP or SSCP.

After an applicant becomes licensed, he or she is required to carry out ongoing edification per 3-year certification period to become recertified. A CISSP has to put forward 120 CPEs for the duration of 3-year recertification. Of the 120 CPEs that are mandatory, as a minimum 80 have to be ‘A’ credits and as many as 40 can be ‘B’ credits. SSCP

This highly advanced certification ways launched in March 2001. It is actually designed for IT security professionals with a minimum of one year of professional experience in the field of information security. During the phase of June 2003, ISC2 introduced an Associate program that helped the candidates to take the exam before they meet up the actual experience requirement. After passing the chosen exam and signing ISC2’s actual Code of Ethics, the Associate has to bring together the obligatory job experience and efficiently complete a certified approval procedure before he or she becomes legitimately certified as CISSP or SSCP.

The term ‘CPE’ refers to Continued Professional Education credits. After an applicant becomes full approved and licensed, he or she is mandatory to carry out ongoing education per three-year certification period to become recertified. An SSCP has to present 60 CPEs during the 3-year re-certification period. Of the 60 CPEs that are mandatory, as a minimum 40 have to be ‘A’ credits and as many as 20 can be ‘B’ credits.  It is compatible and well matched especially for IT professionals who aim to be IS professionals, network security practitioners or systems security practitioners. It can be achieved by passing one exam.
